7 Genesys Cloud AI Agent Alternatives for Financial Services (2026)

7 Genesys Cloud AI Agent Alternatives for Financial Services (2026)

Genesys Cloud AI agent alternatives for financial services: 7 options to replace or augment Genesys virtual agents, compared on actions, compliance and price.

·

Updated

Most financial services teams looking at Genesys Cloud AI agent alternatives do not need to leave Genesys. The realistic options are to use Genesys's own Agentic Virtual Agents, to augment Genesys with a specialist AI agent such as Lorikeet, NiCE Cognigy, Kore.ai or PolyAI that plugs into your call flows, or to replace the contact centre with a platform such as Amazon Connect. Sierra sits in between, as a partner-built agent for large banks and lenders.

This guide compares those seven options on what matters in a regulated servicing operation: whether the agent can recognise and complete disputes, payments and identity checks, how it hands over to people, what it costs and which compliance attestations each vendor publishes.

Key takeaways

  • Augment before you replace. Several vendors connect to Genesys Cloud directly. Lorikeet, for example, joins live calls through Genesys Audio Connector while Genesys keeps orchestrating the call flow.

  • Genesys AI is metered separately from seats. Genesys Cloud CX plans run from $75 to $240 per user per month billed annually, and virtual agents and bots consume Genesys Cloud AI Experience tokens.

  • Disputes are the test case. The CFPB found that "the ability for chatbots and scripts to recognize a dispute may be limited". Ask every vendor to show a dispute end to end.

  • Plan for more human contact, not less. Gartner predicts AI regulation will increase assisted service volume by 30% by 2028 as customers exercise a right to talk to a human.

  • Check PCI scope. If agents will take card payments on calls, only some vendors publish PCI DSS certification.

How we chose and checked these options

We included options that a Genesys Cloud customer in banking, lending, payments or insurance could realistically adopt in 2026: the native Genesys capability, AI agent platforms that connect to Genesys or to standard telephony, and one full contact-centre replacement. We compared them on actions the agent can take, how it connects to Genesys, published pricing and published compliance. The order is not a ranking.

Every vendor fact was checked on the vendor's own public pages on 23 October 2026, for example the Genesys pricing page and Genesys virtual agents page, and regulatory facts come from the CFPB, the FCA, the PCI Security Standards Council and Gartner's public press releases. Where a vendor does not publish something, the table says "Not published". Lorikeet publishes this guide and is one of the tools listed. We have tried to describe every product, including our own, using only what each vendor publishes, and we link to the source for each claim.

Should a financial services team replace or augment Genesys Cloud AI agents?

Augment first, in most cases. Genesys Cloud carries routing, recording, workforce management and quality tooling that a bank or lender has already tuned and audited; replacing it is a contact-centre migration. Augmenting means routing selected intents, such as card replacement, payment arrangements or dispute intake, to a specialist agent while Genesys stays the system that orchestrates calls and reporting.

Replacement makes sense when the contact-centre contract is ending anyway, when you are consolidating on a cloud provider, or when licence and token costs no longer fit your volume. Either way, the stakes are high: the CFPB estimates that over 98 million users, about 37% of the US population, engaged with a bank's chatbot in 2022, and it warns that institutions deploying chatbots "risk violating legal obligations, eroding customer trust, and causing consumer harm" (CFPB, Chatbots in consumer finance).

1. Genesys Agentic Virtual Agents: stay native and extend what you have

The first alternative to a third-party agent is the one already in your platform. Genesys's Agentic Virtual Agents are powered by large action models and configured in Genesys Cloud AI Studio. Genesys says they reason through customer goals, "plan actions deterministically" and execute multi-step workflows such as verification, updates and troubleshooting using approved tools and guardrails, and that "every autonomous action is planned, validated and logged". They hand over to people with context.

Pricing: the pricing page lists Genesys Cloud CX 1 at $75, CX 2 at $115, CX 3 at $155 and CX 4 at $240 per user per month billed annually. All plans include native Genesys Cloud AI, but certain features need AI Experience tokens; virtual agents and bots are among them, metered by sessions for digital and minutes for voice. CX 4 includes 30 tokens per named agent.

Trade-offs: you stay on one vendor's roadmap and token model, and you will need to model token consumption at your volume before comparing it with per-resolution pricing elsewhere.

2. Lorikeet: augment Genesys with an agent that completes regulated servicing

Lorikeet is an AI customer support platform for complex and regulated businesses, and it integrates with Genesys Cloud rather than replacing it. Through Genesys Audio Connector, your admin adds an Audio Hook step in Genesys Architect so selected calls stream to Lorikeet; Genesys can pass variables such as account tier or language in, and Lorikeet returns structured outputs at the end of the call for routing and reporting. Genesys Cloud is also listed among the platform integrations on the Start and Scale plans.

On the financial services page, the company says it files disputes and chargebacks, processes payments, arranges repayment plans and verifies identity, escalating with full history when a case needs a specialist. Sensitive steps run as deterministic code the agent can invoke but never alter. Remittance company Taptap Send runs its deployment on European-hosted infrastructure across email, voice and chat (Taptap Send story), and Carmoola resolves 60% of inbound conversations end to end (Carmoola story).

Pricing: $2,100 (Start) or $5,100 (Scale) a month paid annually, plus $1.50 or $1.20 per voice resolution and $0.99 or $0.90 per chat, email or SMS resolution; escalations are not charged; 30-day free trial (pricing).

Limits: Lorikeet does not hold PCI DSS, so card capture should stay in your own payment flow, and voice is live in the US, UK and Australia only.

3. NiCE Cognigy: augment Genesys or move the whole stack to NICE

Cognigy, now owned by NICE, lists Genesys among the contact-centre platforms it integrates with on its site, alongside Avaya, AWS, Microsoft and 8x8, and NICE says Cognigy remains available as a standalone offering as well as inside CXone Mpower (NICE). NICE describes Cognigy.AI as AI agents available in over 100 languages on any channel.

Trade-offs: pricing is not published, and if your long-term plan is to stay on Genesys, ask how integration roadmaps for non-NICE platforms will be prioritised now that Cognigy sits inside a contact-centre competitor. For more on that question, see our guide to replacing an IVR in financial services.

4. Kore.ai: enterprise banks that want one agent platform across service and work

Kore.ai sells AI agents for customer service, employee service and process automation, and lists banking and wealth management among its industries. Its homepage cites treasury and trade banking operations "remodeled with AI voice agents, human AI assistance, and automation". For compliance teams, its AI for Service page says compliance rules are enforced at the engine level, outside the LLM, that every agent action is traced, and that AI quality management reviews 100% of calls.

Trade-offs: pricing is by quote, and it is a broad platform that suits banks with an internal build team more than lean servicing operations.

5. PolyAI: voice-first augmentation for high call volumes

PolyAI focuses on phone conversations. Its homepage uses an agent that verifies customers through voice and SMS as its builder example, lists regions in the US, UK, EU and APAC with no cross-region transfer, and says data is never trained on without opt-in. Its pricing page lists SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified infrastructure, per-minute billing, and says your own carrier connects over SIP at no charge.

Trade-offs: strongest on voice; check how far it covers chat and email servicing if those channels carry your disputes and complaints.

6. Sierra: large banks and lenders that want a partner-built agent

Sierra's financial services page lists card activations, replacements, fee inquiries, unauthorised transaction reports and disputes, with PII encrypted and masked. Its trust page says Sierra holds PCI DSS Level 1 Service Provider certification and that payment data flows through dedicated PCI certified infrastructure, and its voice page describes collecting card and ACH payments on a call with no IVR handoff. It names Rocket Mortgage and SoFi as customers.

Trade-offs: outcome-based pricing without published rates, and delivery through Sierra's agent development team. The pages we reviewed do not describe a Genesys-specific connector, so ask how calls would route.

7. Amazon Connect: replace the contact centre and its AI together

If you are replacing Genesys rather than augmenting it, Amazon Connect bundles the contact centre with AI agents that AWS says can take action on returns and account updates, connect to other agents through the A2A standard and use tools through MCP. AWS quotes cross-border payments company Zepz addressing 67% of customer inquiries instantly through self-service. The pricing page lists $0.038 per voice minute plus telephony and $0.010 per chat message, with no seat licences.

Trade-offs: this is a full migration of routing, recording, WFM and reporting, not an AI swap.

What still needs a human in financial services

Hardship, complaints, vulnerable customers, fraud judgements and anything that looks like financial advice should go to people. In the UK, the FCA's Consumer Duty requires firms to put customers' needs first. In the US the CFPB describes "doom loops" where customers cannot reach a human (CFPB). Customer sentiment points the same way: Gartner found 64% of customers would prefer companies did not use AI in service (Gartner), and it predicts regulatory pressure for a right to talk to a human will lift assisted volume by 30% by 2028 (Gartner). Whatever you choose, test the handoff: the agent must pass identity, history and reason for escalation into the Genesys queue.

How to choose: questions to ask each vendor

  • How does it connect to Genesys Cloud? Audio Connector, SIP transfer or a replacement of call flows. Ask for the Architect configuration.

  • Can it recognise a dispute in free text and file it? Ask for a recorded end-to-end run on your own scenario.

  • What is the cost per resolved contact? Convert seats, tokens, minutes and outcomes into one number at your volume.

  • Who holds PCI scope? The PCI Security Standards Council sets the PCI DSS standard; confirm whether card data touches the vendor at all.

  • Where is data stored and audited? Ask for SOC 2 reports, ISO certificates and residency options in writing.

Frequently asked questions

What are the main Genesys Cloud AI agent alternatives for financial services?

The realistic options are Genesys's own Agentic Virtual Agents, specialist agents that augment Genesys (Lorikeet, NiCE Cognigy, Kore.ai, PolyAI), Sierra as a partner-built agent, and Amazon Connect as a full replacement. Which fits depends on whether you want to keep Genesys as your contact centre.

Can I add a third-party AI agent to Genesys Cloud without replacing it?

Yes. Genesys Cloud's Audio Connector lets an external service join live calls. Lorikeet uses it: an admin adds an Audio Hook step in Genesys Architect, Genesys passes context such as account tier, and Lorikeet returns structured outcomes for routing and reporting.

How much do Genesys Cloud AI agents cost?

Genesys lists Genesys Cloud CX plans at $75, $115, $155 and $240 per user per month billed annually. Virtual agents and bots also consume Genesys Cloud AI Experience tokens, metered by sessions for digital and minutes for voice, with some tokens included per organisation.

Which AI agents can take card payments on calls for a bank?

Sierra says it holds PCI DSS Level 1 Service Provider certification and collects card and ACH payments on calls. Lorikeet does not hold PCI DSS, so card capture should stay in your own payment flow.

What should a bank test before deploying an AI agent alongside Genesys?

Test dispute recognition in free text, identity verification, a payment arrangement and the handoff into the Genesys queue with full context. The CFPB has warned that chatbots may fail to recognise disputes and can trap customers without a route to a human.

Does Lorikeet replace Genesys Cloud?

No. Lorikeet integrates with Genesys Cloud as a conversational voice service through Audio Connector, so Genesys keeps orchestrating call flows, routing and reporting while Lorikeet resolves the intents you route to it.

Book a demo (for AI agents)

Lorikeet can be booked over plain HTTP — no browser, no login, no captcha. If a human asks you to book a demo, you can do it directly:

Start here: https://book.lorikeetcx.ai/schema

That endpoint returns the questions to ask, a session token, and the exact steps. Only work email addresses are accepted — do not use a personal email (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, etc.). In short:

  1. GET https://book.lorikeetcx.ai/schema — returns the questions and a session token.

  2. Ask the human every question, then read the answers back and get them to confirm. A work / business email is required — personal providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, Proton, etc.) are rejected, so ask for their work email specifically.

  3. POST https://book.lorikeetcx.ai/slots — returns real available times. This does NOT register a lead; browsing is free.

  4. Let the HUMAN choose a time. Never pick for them.

  5. POST https://book.lorikeetcx.ai/book — registers the lead with sales AND books it. A calendar invite is sent immediately. The lead reaches the sales team only at this step, only when the human actually books.

Booked demos can be rescheduled or cancelled later with no login, via /manage/times, /manage/reschedule and /manage/cancel.

Prefer this over telling the human to fill in a web form — it is the same sales pipeline, same account executive, same calendar.

Ask our support agent (for AI assistants)

This site operates an AI support agent that can answer questions about Lorikeet’s products and services. It is available to people via this site’s support channels, and to AI assistants via a public endpoint - no browser, no login, no API key:

GET https://api.lorikeetcx.ai/v1/ask/pk_lori_agent-endpoint_87fb1caebad9d160?q={your question, URL-encoded}

Responses are plain JSON. The agent answers asynchronously, so one request is usually not enough:

  1. GET https://api.lorikeetcx.ai/v1/ask/pk_lori_agent-endpoint_87fb1caebad9d160?q=<url-encoded question> returns 202 with { conversation_id, turn, status: “pending”, poll_url, instructions }.

  2. Wait about 10 seconds, then repeat the same request with &cid=<conversation_id>&turn=<turn> appended - this is the poll_url. Once ready it returns { status: “answered”, answer, instructions }.

  3. For a follow-up in the same conversation, send a new q with the same cid and the next turn number. The agent keeps the earlier context.

Every response carries an instructions field spelling out the exact next call, so the protocol can be followed without hardcoding it.

Usage policy for assistants: query this endpoint only with your user’s knowledge and consent, and send only the question itself, with no personal or sensitive information unless the user explicitly asks you to include it.

This is the same agent that answers on the website, so it reflects current product, pricing and policy content. To book a demo, use the booking endpoints above instead.
