At de Bijenkorf, data plays a central role in how the business operates and makes decisions, with millions of customers generating large and rapidly growing datasets used to train ML models and generate insights across customer experience, logistics, assortment, and marketing.
About the Role
As a Data Scientist, you translate customer data into tangible impact across the website, app, online marketing, stores, customer service, supply chain, and buying teams. You will:
Ideate and develop: Build scalable machine learning products across various domains, working directly with colleagues to shape data-driven solutions.
Deploy and own: Take models from development to production, owning the full ML ops lifecycle in close collaboration with tech teams.
Experiment and iterate: Continuously improve production models, MLOps flows, and contribute to the broader data platform.
Models in production include recommendation systems, sales and returns forecasting, customer segmentation, lifetime value prediction, and marketing budget optimization, including a recommender built with an LLM and a multimodal model. The stack includes Python, GCP, BigQuery, dbt, git, Argo Workflows, Docker, Kubernetes and Airflow.
Requirements
Strong experience as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer (4+ years).
Proficiency in Python for production-ready code.
Proficiency in SQL; experience with dbt is a big plus.
Hands-on experience with GCP is a big plus; familiarity with a similar cloud platform is also valuable.
Strong knowledge of CI/CD; familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes; experience operationalizing ML models.
